Children’s Events and Attractions in the Sea-to-Sky Region
The Sea-to-Sky Corridor, stretching from Vancouver’s North Shore to Whistler, is one of British Columbia’s most scenic drives. Along the way are several family-friendly stops that are especially fun for children. From interactive mining adventures to hands-on railway exhibits, kids can enjoy both learning and playing in this beautiful part of the province.
Below is information about two of the best children’s attractions and their special Christmas events in the Sea-to-Sky region.
Britannia Mine Museum
The Britannia Mine Museum is a historic site that brings BC’s mining past to life in a way kids will love. Families can pan for real gold, take an underground train ride into the tunnels, and watch the BOOM! live show that recreates the sights and sounds of mining. Seasonal events celebrating Halloween, Pride, and Christmas make it an especially fun stop for children throughout the year.
During the Christmas season, the mine celebrates “Toys Through the Decades.” This event is open on the weekends of December 6th and 7th, and December 13th and 14th. In 2025, to mark their 50th anniversary, admission to the event is free! This free entrance includes access to the lower levels of the mine and all the festive additions of the season. Entry to the underground and upper levels of the mine still require admission purchase.

Railway Museum of British Columbia
The Railway Museum of BC is a dream come true for young train enthusiasts. Kids can climb aboard vintage railcars! They can also explore historic locomotives and wander through railway-themed exhibits. Family-focused events such as Day Out With Thomas and the North Pole Express are among the most popular children’s activities in the region.
The North Pole Express is reminiscent of its namesake movie. With hot chocolate, Christmas-themed decorations and even a chance to meet Santa, this seasonal celebration is surely memorable. It operates November 29th-30th, and December 6th-7th, 13th-14th and 20th-21st. It has demonstrations between 10 am and 6 pm on the listed days. Check out their website for full details.

Tips for Families Visiting the Sea-to-Sky Region
#Tip 1: Pick a sunny day, The Sea-to-Sky drive is at its most stunning when the skies are clear and the mountains and ocean views are in full sight. Cloudy days hide much of the scenery.
#Tip 2: Drive carefully! The highway is curvy and can be slippery in rain or winter conditions. If visiting during ski season, make sure your vehicle has proper winter tires.
#Tip 3: Plan free stops. Parks like Shannon Falls, Alice Lake, and Porteau Cove are easy to access with kids and perfect for short breaks, picnics, and playtime outdoors.
