There are so many events and activities for children in the Vancouver region during Halloween season, from pumpkin patches to corn mazes and spooky attractions.

October is definitely a fun time for families in the Lower Mainland. Kids get to wear costumes, pick pumpkins, play games and enjoy fall festivals all across the region. From farms in the Fraser Valley to gardens, bridges and city parks, there are plenty of attractions offering child-friendly Halloween experiences.

Some of the most popular options include pumpkin patches at local farms, outdoor adventures and community celebrations with fireworks. Vancouver also has family-focused activities at museums, gardens and attractions, including Flyover at Canada Place and the Britannia Mine Museum in the Sea to Sky Region.

Taves Family Farms (Magic of Fall Experience)

Taves Family Farms offers their Magic of Fall experience in September and October. It’s great for children and their families.

Visitors can explore corn mazes, play areas and the apple orchard. The pumpkin patch opens midway through the season and hayrides take families out to the fields where they can pick pumpkins. Other highlights at Taves include a petting barn, cider tasting for adults and a farm store with fresh local treats.

The Magic of Fall Experience runs until the end of October and is one of the most popular seasonal events in the Fraser Valley.

Chilliwack Corn Maze at Greendale Acres

Greendale Acres is home to the Chilliwack Corn Maze, a classic autumn tradition. Kids can enjoy the large maze, play structures, farm animals and even a couple of giant jumping pillows. Families can also rent firepits, try pedal carts, and play all kinds of fun games.

The pumpkin patch opens in the fall, making it a great spot to combine Halloween fun with farm adventures. Special events like the Chilliwack Corn Festival also happen earlier in the season.

Petey’s Pumpkin Patch at Fantasy Farms

Fantasy Farms is known for both its pumpkin patch and its haunted house attraction, Reapers. Petey’s Pumpkin Patch, however, is designed for younger kids and families.

Children can pick pumpkins, enjoy farm-themed activities, and soak in the Halloween spirit. The pumpkin patch is open through October and offers a festive but not-too-scary experience that families travel from all over the Lower Mainland to enjoy.

Harvest Days at VanDusen Garden

VanDusen Botanical Garden transforms in October with Harvest Days, a seasonal celebration featuring fall displays, family-friendly activities and live entertainment.

Families can stroll through decorated gardens, take part in activities and enjoy the festive atmosphere. With colourful leaves, pumpkins and themed installations, it’s a great place to visit with kids during the Halloween season.

In 2026 Harvest Days runs on weekends between September 26th and October 18th. It’s also open on Thanksgiving Monday, so on October 12th.

Monsters, Machines and Mischief at Britannia Mine Museum

150 Copper Drive, Britannia Beach

Britannia Mine Museum celebrates Halloween with a special theme each year. In 2026 it’s Monsters, Machines and Mischief.

Highlights at the attraction include six monsters representing different mining machines, as well as live science demonstrations, a special edition of the underground tour, and a scavenger hunt activity for kids. 

This year’s event runs on the Saturdays and Sundays of October 17th, 18th, 24th and 25th.

Heroes & Villains with Vancouver Mysteries

Coal Harbour, Vancouver

Vancouver Mysteries offers an outdoor game called Heroes & Villains that plays like a family-friendly escape room or scavenger hunt around Coal Harbour and the Vancouver Convention Centre area in downtown Vancouver.

The storyline has kids and families working together as superheroes to save the city from the villainous Muck Monster. There’s a regular version of the game for older players, plus a family edition designed for children as young as the age of six to play with adults.

Halloween at the Roundhouse Community Centre

The Roundhouse hosts a couple of fun Halloween activities for kids. In 2026 there’s a haunted house walkthrough on Halloween night for ages 4 to 12, followed by a live magic show on November 1st.

Pre-registration is recommended since these popular events usually sell out quickly. The Roundhouse is a top spot for family-friendly Halloween fun in downtown Vancouver.

Canyon Frights at Capilano Suspension Bridge

Capilano Suspension Bridge hosts Canyon Frights in October, a Halloween event with spooky lights, themed displays and scary, yet still family-friendly decorations.

Visitors can explore the famous suspension bridge, treetop walkways and cliffside paths while enjoying Halloween-themed fun. Families are encouraged to dress in costumes, and kids can sometimes win prizes at special activity stations.

In 2026 the event runs daily from October 9th until November 1st.

HowlOver at Flyover at Canada Place

Flyover at Canada Place puts a spooky spin on its signature attraction each October with HowlOver Canada. The multi-sensory ride follows Biker Mama the Witch and her cat Tiger Moon as they soar across the country in search of Halloween magic.

With wind, mist, scents and stunning visuals, the experience is fun for both kids and adults. It’s one of Vancouver’s most popular family-friendly Halloween attractions.

In 2026 the special film shows from October 15th until November 1st.

Brinkworth Dungeon

Brinkworth Dungeon is a homemade haunted attraction in Langley featuring more than 5,000 square feet of spooky sets and displays. Visitors make their way through creepy corridors filled with monsters and scenes inspired by classic horror movies. There’s also a Chamber of Horrors and plenty of other scary surprises along the way.

This attraction is best suited for brave older kids and teenagers rather than young children. Some evenings feature live actors dressed as monsters, making the experience considerably scarier. On select nights, however, Brinkworth Dungeon offers “Creepy Tours” without scare actors, which can be a better option for younger visitors who still enjoy spooky things.

Fright Nights at the PNE

Playland hosts Fright Nights each October, featuring haunted houses and thrill rides. It’s one of the scariest Halloween attractions in the Lower Mainland and not recommended for young children. Brave older kids, youth and young adults love it!

The event is ideal for older youth and adults who enjoy haunted houses and jump scares. It’s a world-famous attraction!

2026 dates are Wednesdays to Sundays between October 7th and Halloween night.

Celebrate the Night in Maple Ridge

Celebrate the Night is a free community festival that combines Halloween activities with live entertainment, games and fireworks. Families can enjoy craft stations, food trucks, storytelling and a festive lantern display.

The evening ends with a fireworks show, making it one of the Lower Mainland’s top Halloween events for children and families.

In 2026 Celebrate the Night takes place on October 24th.

Richmond hosts one of the region’s biggest free Halloween fireworks shows each year at Minoru Park. Families gather to enjoy live music, trick-or-treating, and community performances before the fireworks light up the night sky.

It’s a lively and festive way to celebrate Halloween with kids, and one of the few places in Metro Vancouver where fireworks are part of the holiday fun.

Burnaby Village at Halloween

Burnaby Village Museum transforms into a Haunted Village in late October. The event combines history, community and Halloween fun with decorated streets, themed displays and child-friendly spooky scenes.

The Haunted Village is one of the best Halloween events for younger kids since the scares are mild, and the setting is more festive than frightening (although still a bit spooky). Families can stroll the open-air museum while children enjoy a safe Halloween experience.

Big Halloween Run

50 Pacific Blvd, Concord Community Park, Vancouver

The Big Halloween Run is a festive running event where participants dress in costumes and jog or walk along the False Creek Seawall. Families can choose between short and longer routes, making it fun for both kids and adults.

In years when the run takes place, the focus is on community and creativity, so expect to see lots of costumes and smiling faces when the event returns. In previous years, even pets were able to join the fun!

Note: This event isn’t happening in 2026. It might return in 2027, although exact details are to be confirmed.
