Carnavalito Latin Festival in Surrey and Langley

Carnavalito on the Road is a Latin fiesta. It’s related to Carnaval del Sol, which is a massive 3-day Latin festival in July. Instead of taking place in Vancouver, however, Carnavalito happens in both Surrey and Langley.

For an idea of what to expect at Carnavalito on the Road, see the following video. It shows what the event looked like when it happened at Douglas Park in Langley last year. It will look similar in 2026, although at a different park in Langley as well as at its new second location at Bear Creek Park in Surrey.

A couple of the groups you’ll see performing in the video are Baila Con Abi, Vivo Mexico and the Meni Axe Band.

After watching the video, either continue reading to learn more about the events, or click Carnavalito on the Road for the festival’s official website.

Carnavalito on the Road

Carnavalito is a vibrant cultural celebration. Organized by Latincouver, the same team behind Carnaval del Sol, this “little carnival” has brought the spirit of Latin America to the Fraser Valley in a lively, family-friendly setting. It has taken place in Langley for a couple of years. New for 2026, it happens in Surrey too!

Carnavalito, which translates to “small carnival”, is designed as a community-focused extension of Vancouver’s larger Latin festival, Carnaval del Sol. The one-day smaller events take place in the summer. They showcase Latin music, dance, food and artisan culture in an accessible outdoor environment.

In 2026 Carnavalito on the Road takes place in Surrey on June 27th. It also happens in Langley on September 6th. Carnaval del Sol, meanwhile, takes place on the weekend of July 10th to 12th.

Carnavalito in Surrey

In 2026 Carnavalito on the Road celebrates its third year, and its first time in Surrey (and its first time with events in two locations in the same year).

In Surrey Carnavalito takes place at Bear Creek Park on Saturday, June 27th. It runs from noon until 8 pm. Admission is free (or by donation).

Location in Langley

In 2026 Carnavalito on the Road also takes place on September 6th, which is the Sunday of the Labour Day weekend. The event draws visitors from across Langley and surrounding Fraser Valley communities.

Carnavalito on the Road has taken place at Douglas Park in Langley the past couple of years. In 2026 the event takes place at a new venue. It will likely happen at Royal Coin Park. Exact information about the location and other details, however, are to be confirmed.

Festival Plazas and Cultural Zones

Much like its larger Vancouver counterpart, Carnavalito features themed plazas that highlight different aspects of Latin culture.

The Main Plaza serves as the entertainment hub, where live bands and dance performances energize the crowd throughout the day. The Family & Kids Plaza offers interactive activities and programming designed for younger attendees, making the festival welcoming for all ages.

In past years there has been a She Latina Plaza which celebrates women entrepreneurs, artists, and leaders within the Latin community. In this zone visitors can connect with inspiring creators, learn about small businesses, and support local talent.

At Carnavalito, food lovers gravitate toward the Food Plaza and Beer Plaza, where vendors serve a variety of authentic Latin dishes, snacks and beverages. Meanwhile, the Artisan Plaza functions as a vibrant Latin market, showcasing handcrafted art, jewelry, textiles and cultural goods from regional makers.

Live Latin Music and Performances

Entertainment is a major highlight of Carnavalito. The festivals feature an exciting lineup of Latin bands, DJs, and dance groups representing diverse styles such as salsa, cumbia, merengue, folklórico, and Afro-Latin rhythms.

The events include high-energy performances from well-known Latin music groups and local cultural dance ensembles. The atmosphere is festive and welcoming, with audiences often joining in to dance and celebrate together.

A Growing Latin Cultural Experience in the Lower Mainland

As a sister event to Carnaval del Sol, Carnavalito continues to grow in popularity each year. It provides an opportunity for the Latin community outside Vancouver to share traditions, music, and cuisine while inviting the wider public to experience Latin American culture up close.

With colourful performances, authentic food, artisan vendors, and lively park settings, the Carnavalito on the Road Latin Festival has quickly become one of Langley’s most anticipated summer cultural events (and it’ll be the same for Surrey now too).
